View Full Version : I got the wood, who'll make thin grips?

Need some advice.

I picked up some beautiful ironwood panels at the Knifemakers' Guild Show in Orlando last weekend. I'm spoiled by thin grips and would like to have them made into a set for my Commander.

Any recommendations as to who to send it to?

Try sending private mail to Rovert. He's just started a business making 1911 grips and might be able to help you out.

Or sand them down with real fine grit sandpaper. As long as the inside of the grip is not sande crooked, they should be a dandy. Take it slow and check them every so often, unless you have a set of slimlines to measure them against.

pdmoderator - thanks, we've already exchanged e-mails. He doesn't have checkering available yet but has plans to add it.

Rapper - these are just panels of wood and will have to be made into grips. That might work with regular grips, I guess.
