Go into a gunstore and look at the price of a brass wire brush. Close to $1. Look at the price of an acid brush (25 cents?) at any hardware store. Just went to a woodworkers' show in San Mateo (CA) and saw brass wire brushes at one dozen for $5.95. That's 50 cents each. Acid brushes (great for applying solvent and washing down parts) were packs of 72 for $5.

Are they sized by calibre?

My .243 benchrest brushes cost me about $10/dozen, and last a weekend worth of shooting. Then they become .22 brushes, and last another weekend.

Sorry about the misunderstanding. The wire brushes I mentioned above are like toothbrushes. They good for scrubbing the frame or action or large parts. As for bores, maybe 75 mm or bigger if you have a skinny arm. ;)

Oh... I bought a couple of those things about 5-6 years ago...

Still have 'em.

I get my acid brushes from them a gross at a time, real cheap, in several sizes. Also they have bulk bore brushes at a good price.
