About electronic muffs

Most of these are rated around 24-27nrr, while my Leightning is 31 I believe. I've been wanting some electronics for a while now, but the NRR rating bothers me. Using ear plugs seems to defeat the purpose.

Any thoughts?

Using plugs does not defeat the purpose. I routinely wear plugs under my electronic muffs and can hear people talking. I simply turn up the volume a bit.

The only time I don't use plugs and muffs is when I'm shooting 22lr alone (doesn't happen often), then I use one or the other.
