It looks neat. The gentlemen surely worked hard on it, so I wish them all the best.

Only shotgun I'd take into combat would be a belt fed semi auto version of this with a quick change barrel. That said.. what is the function of a shotgun that weighs and bulks double that of a .223 with half the range?

It is a well-known fact that terrorists killing our troops in Iraq are not afraid of the M4 and its 5.56mm bullet

Thanks a lot, Eghad!
Now that I've finished mopping up the drool on my desk... :D

The shotgun is a "close combat" weapon, meaning that it's best effective range is inside 200m. For combat teams in Iraq, you'd have one or two operators who would be part of your entry team. Likewise, at urban distances the shotgun is a formidable weapon because it can throw out lead in a huge volume of space, improving the odds of a hit.

Also, keep in mind that many of our enemies over there are prepared to die for their cause. What they aren't as well prepared for (so I hear) is surviving the encounter and being captured as wounded.

Oh, I definitely see it as a close quarters house clearing type weapon. I just don't see it getting widespread use.

Interesting. Looks like the motion (and mass) of the bolt counteracts recoil when the cartridges are fired.

The M1014 we Marines are using is a very good weapon! Being in Security Forces we get to shoot these new babies extensivily and they are still in great shape, but...damn, would I like to blast away with that puppy! Looks like fun!
