I blew some clay targets out of the air a couple weeks ago with a Remington 1100 and what I believe was some sort of Winchester 12 gauge pump. This was my first experience with a shotgun, and it was fun.

What would a good first shotgun be for trap, skeet, sporting clays ...edited ... on saturday afternoon? I don't want anything girlier than a 12, so don't bother suggesting that. Recoil is one of the things that makes shooting most enjoyable.

I've seen 4 and 2 gauge shotguns for sale, and they look like fun. Is anybody on here cool enough to have experience with such a gun?

An 870 is hardly ever a bad choice, but.....

Shooting pet cats or even strays is not good PR for gun owners, neither is popping off a few rounds in most 'hoods. Use some sense before shooting.

"Seems like it would get old shooting the same 1 or 2 targets every single time."

Only if you hit them, only if you hit them. ;)

A light 10 ga. should give you enough recoil to keep you awake...and the neighbors.
