I'd like to finally break down and get a decent pair of shooting glasses. Which is the better M frame - hinges or no hinges? I want something that will last that won't break easy so which to choose?

Do they break easy though?

Mast-
I took a couple pairs of Oakleys to the Sandbox with me. The M frames held up great, the second pair - "10s" - broke while on my cot when a helmet / NVG combination got dropped on them. Ooops.

Depends on what you're staking in these glasses. ESS makes awesome ballistic glasses that are no crap. We get issued their ICE glasses, and I decided to see how well they actually held up. I had an old lens that's pretty scratched up from last trip to the sand box, so I did my own little product test. I started with #8 low-brass lead shot at about 5 meters from a mossburg 12 gauge. Nothing penetrated. I worked my way up to #4 high-brass steel shot before anything penetrated the lens. If you want something that will honestly protect your eyes from anything (including IED's at a distance), get a pair. They're cheaper than oakley's, too. You can find the ICE's for $50.
