I said this in another post but when a bird flies, I've got so much going through my old and feable brain that I don't have time to think about which gun I have in my hands. Do I need to pump this thing or just pull the trigger?
I don't get much time where I hunt quail. You MIGHT get an opening for a split second, and they are quick. So I had to take that possible glitch out of my hunting. I only use autos.

same here, autos only-- i got rid of the charles daly and rem. 1100 that would jam frequently unless spotless, and got a baikal mp-153, an auto-5, and a rem.11, they all work flawlessly and i have no reason to own a pump

I have done my best to rack the slide on my Dad's 1100 a time or two. :) For some reason I don't have that glitch on my O/Us.
For me - YMMV - my HD shotguns are 870s due to that very issue.

No.
I have shot both and other platforms quite a bit.
Now I have been shooting single shot shotguns quite a bit, in fact used them for dove hunting.
I did remark when handed a nice 1100 in 28 ga,recently "seems your hammer fell off when you took that pair of doves ma'am". ;)

i actually switch back and forth between a mossberg 500 and a rem 1187, for some reason i have never had this problem happen to me or a problem with trying to switch the safetys to fire, im geuss the reason is that both guns feel completly different when im handling them
