Lasermax makes guide rod lasers this might be what you are looking for.

I always thought of lasers as a novelty but recently they have become very popular.
So are the guide rod lasers and grip lasers all that great , do they hold a zero?

I have one Lasermax that holds its zero extremely well. I also have tried one of those semi-cheap "laserlyte" deals and was not happy. You get what you pay for.

When it comes to lasers you get what you pay for. Make sure you buy one that can be seen in the daylight. They are a lot of fun although I don't carry one on my carry weapon. They can make a shooter lazy, so I always make sure someone can use iron sights effectively before recommending laser sights. The nice thing about Lasermax and Crimson Trace is they don't require a custom made holster to carry the weapon. I bought the top of the line laser 10 years ago for my berreta 92F and it is still a very bright unit and very well made. However it mounts to the bottom of the frame and the front of the trigger guard which requires a custom made holster to carry it. She is a safe queen.

When I had my P22, my kid was more accurate with the sights than with the laser. I was the opposite.
For a self defense weapon I'd KISS.

And the picture I saw didn't have an accsessory rail on the dust cover below the barrel, so no, a regular laser/flashlight won't mount under there. There are el cheapo lasers that will mount to the front of your trigger guard, but I don't recommend those at all. Like the Thunderchief said, you get what you pay for. Those Laseraim guiderod lasers are cool...expensive but cool. And I suspect them to be the most accurate as well.
If you're thinking about getting a laser...I suggest looking into a Green Laser. They are WAY more powerful during the day. I don't know if Laseraim makes green lasers, but I put one on one of my AR's and that thing is AWESOME bright! LOL!

On 1911's i've tried both the internal LaserMax and the CrimsonTrace grips. Both did hold a zero and with both you can use regular holsters for a 1911. I prefer the CrimsonTrace grips just for ease of use and they a pretty comfortable too. If your going to use a laser i'd suggest you go with one of those two.

I agree. I had a recent thread in this vain as well and bought some for my CZ.
