...has an M @ the end of the serial number = Magnum?
Barrel is 2.75 or 3"...Is this a 3" chambered action?

Yep. The M at the end means the receiver has 2.75" and 3" capability. Make sure the barrel is too, some older 870 barrels (Wingmaster) are only 2.75".
