Remington 870 Wingmaster

Hello,

For my first post I want to ask possibly a stupid question.

I own a Remington 870 Wingmaster which was bought around 1968 - 1970.
(Inherited from my fathers passing away)

It is a 16 Gauge and I was wondering if the receivers are different between the 16 & a 12 Ga.

I know the bolt and barrel would have to be, but what about the receivers?

I was wishing it was possible to change barrels and bolts and shoot 12 Ga. ammo I have in great abundance. :eek:

Does anyone know the diminsions on the different gauge shotguns?

Nope. You would have to change out all the internals (magazine, ejector/extractor, springs, etc.) and even then I doubt if it would work. There are places that still sell 16ga shells online.

All 16 were built on the same frame as the 12s. Early 20s were also.

Not realistic to try changing the gauge, easier.cheaper to buy a new 12 gauge.

16 gauge ammo is around, shoot this in memory of your Dad.
