Hi, I am just trying to get some opinions on what you all think the best slug for hunting would be for a mossberg 500, with a smooth bore. It prob. have to be a fostered type slug... which do you recommend being the best for this gun for deer?
Thanks.

I had a rifled barrel bought to use it for slugs, but another idea would be a rifled choke tube (if your mossy is threaded for a choke tube). With the rifled barrel and sabot rounds - it was way more accurate than I ever imagined.

So that Rifles choke tube would be the same length as all my other chokes? Only difference is that it is grooved, I have never seen those, I will have to look for em.

I haven't tried these (http://ammunitiontogo.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=120_206&products_id=1612) but I'm thinking about getting a couple of boxes.

$2.69 a box at Dick's right now....
Accurate, with a flat trajectory, and very hard hitting. You'll LOVE 'em!

Link to what I mentioned. I know nothing about this dealer, so this was only to show what I was talking about. You will have to scroll down the page some.

In my hunting shotgun, a Browning A5 12 Mag, I have had the best results, regarding accuracy and effectivness, with the Brenneke KO slugs. Second best has been the Remmington 'sluggers'. I only use the 2 3/4 slugs.
