I thought this would fit best here since this is the shotgun group If it would be better in the reloading forum (since they like to tinker with loads), I'm sure the staff will move it.

I was kicking dirt clods in my dove field and I found several wads with the petals not slit correctly. They still had a small piece of plastic holding 2 of them together at the top (muzzle end) of the shot cup, even though they had been fired.

I normally reload dove loads but the price of lead has my dander up. Wally-World had Remington Dove loads for $4.19/box and that's what these were from. I have not contacted Rem. customer service but I plan to do so.

By my way of thinking, the pattern would be lop-sided at best and would be super-tight at worst. I guess this is more of a "heads-up" than anything else, but I wondered what ya'll would think about the net effect of such a defect.

Have you tried to pattern any of these, or do you have any left to try on a pattern board. I just stocked up on several hundred rounds of the same load from the same place. Now I'm curious, what ga are they?

I haven't tried to pattern them because I don't think it's on every one. Based on the number of normal vs. weird wads I found, it looks like maybe 30% or less. I bought two cases and have at least 1 full case left. 12 ga.

I'll probably just shoot them up on clays (at home) and not buy any more. Anyone know where I can get a used Littleton shot maker?
