The twenty used a smaller frame than the twelve. the early sixteens had their own, then used the twenty's frame.
Google ssearch the Ithaca NY phone book, a former Ithaca smith has a shop listed, don't have files handy to look for it.
Check the SN, it it located on right receiver wall above the trigger or on the right-front receiver face, where the barrel mates???
If above the trigger all current barrels with fir and be useful with no problems.
IF on receiver front face, you have a pre-855,000 firearm, then LOOK for a SN on the barrel about the five-o'clock position (off-center from true bottom)
if it DOESN"T match the receiver DON"T SHOOT IT!!
Take to a competent gunsmith to have the headspace checked, the early M37's had barrels specifically mated to each receiver.
So supply more info. We're here to help.
