I am going to buy a 22 pistol for target shooting and plinking and was wondering which of these three guns is most accurate and best investment? Ruger MK II, Browning Buckmark or Colt Huntsman

I dont think Id use "best investment" as a criteria for a .22 plinket if your refering to dollar return on investment. Go to a gun shop and handle them, shoot each if you can-rent or borrow then buy and enjoy. If you want a good investment look at old Parker shotguns or maybe a .50 BMG for when (if) they're outlawed, maybe a pre-64 win 30/30 but not a .22 plinking handgun.

My favorite is the Ruger Mark II, but which is best is like asking which car is the best Chevy Ford or Dodge.

I have never owned the Browning or the Colt you mentioned so I can't compare accuracy or reliability but will say my Mark II and Mark III have been 100% reliable and way more accurate than I am. Just a pain to field strip them.
Good luck :)

If you have a chance to buy a decent huntsman as a plinker, go for it. Far better made than either of the other choices and will hold its value when the others are $100 guns.

I had a Ruger Mark II. I sold it and got a Buckmark. Liked the Buckmark much better.

I have all three, if you count a 1949 woodsman as being similar to the huntsman, so I can speak from a bit of experience.
Get the colt.....
you can always buy one of the others new later, there are no new colt huntsman pistols being made.
I had a similar choice last year between getting a new smith 617 or a 1950 k-22. I got the k-22 and it was the right choice, I can always buy the 617 whenever I want...

Never had a Woodsman, but prefer the Ruger of the other two.

i have owned buckmarks, challengers, rugers of various designations. when faced with the decision on which one this time around> i went with a marvel 22 conversion on a 1911. good accuracy and function. bobn

I own 2 of the Rugers and love them both. But I'd get the Colt.
