My mother carries a concealed weapon. Problem is, she has resorted to off body carry (i.e. leaving it in the car, or in a purse) because it is difficult to conceal.

My girlfriend carries a concealed weapon. Problem is, when she is carrying (which is most of the time) she is forced to dress like a man in order to conceal it.

How do women carry a weapon and still dress like women? Other than the cornered cat website, are there any places where we can get info on this?

Ladies CCW Options:
[1] In a pocket book. You need to run a 1/4 inch cable through the shoulder strap, so someboody can not cut the strap and run with the pocket book.
[2] On the thigh.
[?] The secret is to cover it up.....

Its harder in the summer than the rest of the year. A snubby in a belly band can cover pretty well, or in the pants holster. A small enough gun can be covered by a sweater or jacket type top. Also some shoulder holsters work pretty well. In winter I carry in the slash pocket of my jacket. I have to resort to different pistols and holsters depending on what I'm wearing, and the time of year. So one thing probably won't work all the time for most women. I DO NOT carry in my pocket book/purse.

I suggest that you and your ladies check out www.corneredcat.com . It is a great site, written by a brilliant woman for and about women and guns, it's a great read for men too. She addresses the problems you speak of.

Hey DiveMedic,

I don't know where you are, but in some states it's illegal for a CC holder to leave the gun in the car loaded. In my state, it has to be unloaded and locked in a compartment if it's not on you. And this isn't a terribly restrictive state, either (WA).

Don't let her get in a problem if she's in a state like that.

Naw, I'm in Florida. We don't have that nonsense here.

I have been carrying a long time, but I just am not familiar enough with women's fashion to help them out. My g/f copies my choices, but they force her to not dress like a girl (now in jeans and tshirts to hide IWB)

I have seen cornered cat, no help there. I guess we keep looking.

Lots of good stuff to read here - written by a woman who lives it, breaths and eats concealed carry. http://www.corneredcat.com/TOC.aspx

My wife's is in her purse. Her purse is always with her. Her hand is always close to that purse.

This blog (http://web.mac.com/mj_lauer/iWeb/RangeDiary/Welcome.html) features some good input from a female CCW'er.

Kel-Tec or other small auto. Simple to carry in a pair of jeans (inside pocket holster) or in the front pocket of a hooded sweatshirt.
