Dumb Question!
What is the normal length of the butt stock? I am looking to buy one and it just doesn't feel right.

It depends on the year and gauge, but the most common model in the 2 3/4" chambered 12 gauge were 14 1/2" for most of production.

Any 2 3/4" A5 with a pad on it is suspect when it comes to LOP as they were cut to fit the pad. Measure them. the 3" Mag models all came with pads from the factory.
