Bud, If you look in this section you will find some of my posts... My mossberg 500 never got anything but wd-40 until just several weeks back when I tore it down... There is a you tube video that is helpful to tear it down and just oil obvious parts that move... If you want more details I will help where I can.

use grease only for long term storage
packed in grease that are useless for defense but it prevents rust
i use rem oil on all my guns
heard that wd40 damages primers

OK then you don't use like auto grease for anything on a gun
I have never cleaned a gun before
the gun has never been shot
I do have rem oil . eezox .break free. hoppes 9 as well as gun & reel silicone cloth
and a nice cleaning kit i got from walmart
i have been looking at your tube
at how to clean a shotgun
don't want to shoot the gun before i learned how to clean it
when I got the gun they gave me a silicone treated shotgun sack by remington
is the sack ok to keep the gun in it's the marine coat 500 shotgun
thanks

I don't keep any weapon in any case. If humidity gets in or your a/c quits it is not so good. Also Putting a gun in a case hot or cold and going to the other extreme is moisture building. I have seen some fine guns pulled out of a fine case rusty.

Rem oil works the best for me, I would never pick up a can of WD40.

Remoil gets gooey as heck in cold weather, but in FL it would probably be fine.
I like CLP.
