My brother-in-law was just given a Westernfield XNH 565 that needs a new barrel.Apparently it was sold at Wards and made by Noble whom I've never heard of.Is this gun worth spending money on?

I think it all depends on how much the barrell will cost. Noble built many inexpensive shotguns and rifles from roughly the 50's-70's. while they were mass produced and relatively inexpensive they are not that bad a gun. I have never owned any shotguns but I did have a 22 leveraction that was a good shooter and a solid little gun. I think they made singles, pumps and semis. I think it will depend on how much and if you can even find a barrell. while it is no weatherby it is still a decent gun to hunt with with no collecter value above the actual price of a hunting gun.

The Montgomery Wards Westernfield XNH-565 is the Nobel 60-66.

Gun Parts do carry parts, but unfortunately show all barrels as no longer available:

You might also try calling Jack First. You MUST actually call:

In like new condition, a Nobel 60-66 is probably worth not much more than $100.00

just what is wrong with the old barrell, and or why do you need a new one?

While the gun is in good shape overall, the barrel is bent and has what appears to be a small split.I haven't actually seen the gun.

If the split is at the muzzle - fairly common, somebody shooting steel shot - a 'smith could cut it back and install a Polychoke. You might wind up with a pretty fair gun, not worth much $-wise, but fine for hunting.
