Need Help for Shooting EarMuffs

Hi,
My husband wants a pair of hunting earmuffs for Christmas. He is an avid duck hunter and also shoots sporting clays, deer hunting, etc... He also has hearing loss in his right ear due to previous damage from guns, etc...
I have been searching on line and there are several brands (Walker, ProEars, Radians, etc..) and I am a bit confused about which brand to choose and which selling points, etc... I don't mind spending a couple of hundred dollars to get him good protection and hearing help. The main thing he told me is that he wanted a set that would not interfere with him holding his shotgun. Any comments, reviews would be helpful. Thanks so much!

you dont need to spend hundreds for a decent pair of ear protection muffs. ive used a pair of peltor 105 ear muffs for several years and they work well and are comfortable. i use them when shooting indoors and outside. click on the following link ....you can order a pair on amazon.com.

I've been using this brand for a few years, although, models have changed and I suppose, prices have increased. Mine look like the ones in the linked photo, but it looks as if the electronics have been upgraded over the years.

Notice how the sides are beveled which may allow some decrease in overall width, but there's a trade-off in how much noise protection vs. the larger ones. I'd probably get the larger ones with more protection next time.

True stereo is important, also. Note, they do use "N" cells, which are commonly found at RadioShack, but not many other normal places one might find batteries (like drug stores, grocery stores, or even other electronics stores).

I'll put in a second vote for the Pro-Ears. I made the mistake of trying a friend's and they're good....really good.
I've put them on my "but for me" list that my wife asks for at about this time. In the meantime I'm saving my nickles just in case she doesn't feel I'm worthy!

Have some Peltor 6.5's that I got used from my dad... They were great for a year and then the right side died. This seems to happen with this model from what I've read online. Now I have some Caldwells that I payed $35 for... They work okay but I miss the Peltor's... Clean and quiet while the caldwells emit constant static. I guess you get what you pay for. Someday I'll upgrade. I wish i could fix the peltor set.

I prefer Sordin Supreme Pro X Ear Muffs.

I wear the S&W plugs along with cheap muffs. Using both makes a big difference. But, if your sociable at the range. probably not thest choice. Ive seen too many of my older shooting buddies with hearing problems and tenitus, it makes me paranoid. Indoor ranges are are the worst. Didnt mean to get off subject there.

I use Peltor too. They work great. They work so good that I can hear every word my wife says to me when she is fussing about being gone to long.:D
