What the hell is mossberg thinking,
Its worse than that "rolling thunder" thing they came out with a few months ago.
Mossberg R&D must be drunk, "hey I bet we could more useless crap on a shotgun and the mall ninjas will buy it.

Mossberg R&D must be drunk, "hey I bet we could more useless crap on a shotgun and the mall ninjas will buy it. You mean marketing called R&D and said, "Let's really get the last three or four mall ninjas who are looking for a PGO shotgun."
Obviously, that crap sells our the wouldn't keep making those things.

I suspect it is an improvement on their breecher model. It looks like you could breech doors with this and you can get a vastly reduced recoil on this new model.
If I had to choose between breecher and this one. I would have to go with this one for the improved recoil reduction:rolleyes:
However unless you have plans of breeching doors. It is pretty much useles..
I do keep a mossberg breecher in my trunk (full length pistol grip stock) incase the riots break out and I am stuck at work. I work in a really really bad part of town. It normally takes me 30 miniutes to drive to work. If riots broke out It make take me 2 days to get home. (Hide during the day travel at night.)

Aside from the muzzle break it looks like any ole pistol grip shot gun. Does it serve no purpose at all?

I expect it's sole purpose is separating mall ninjas from their money.

I thought it's sole purpose was to give me a reason to laugh in the owners face and call them "Uber-poser"!

If you build it... "they" will come. And they will buy this thing just because it has the biggest, honkenest, most 50 BMG'ish muzzle farkle on it that Mossberg can fit in a box.
Luckily, I don't know anyone stupid enough to buy one of these... as I'd hate to be standing beside someone when they take out an obviously dangerous milk jug.
What's next? I think this gun needs a bi-pod, maybe a few more heat shields... and perhaps a nice espresso maker.
I could go on... but I'll leave enough open disdain for others to explore.

Most marketing guys buy into the old saying by P.T. Barnum.
There is a sucker born every minute, and 2 to take him. I think the manufactures have sold out to this idea.

Can't blame them I guess. From a kinder, gentler, "keep America working" perspecitve... they need to do what they need to do to stay afloat.
If making an impractical gun that appeals only to a certain subset of the gun tribe keeps their doors open and their employees working... then let the giant 'V' braked, pistol-gripped blasters come.
I think it's safe to say however, it's unlikely we'll see each other in line waiting to buy one. :D

If the percussive/concussive pressure blast ain't good enuff shooting offhand... You could always try breaching a door... I bet yer deaf and suffer powder/shrapnel injuries! Lemme know how that works out...

Well, If it keeps folks working, I volunteer you to stand in line, after you shoot it a while and put a real stock on it, I'll buy it and hang it on the office wall as my newest example of

Thanks so much for volunteering me. Lets see... put a conventional stock on it, remove the heat shield, remove the strap thing, remove the brake... at some point I'd have a stock Mossberg 500, which would be fine. :D
New_Pollution1086
January 21, 2009, 01:22 PM
The strap is the only part I like. Why does a shotgun need a heat shield? why does a shotgun need what looks like a .50 cal muzzle brake? And i really dont see the point in a shotgun you cant aim.
$@#&ing mall ninjas.

I sort of understand the PGO mentality but I would never own one. I really prefer to have a standard stock.
But why does one need/want a heat shield? Someone please enlighten me.

I do - I POINT all of my shotguns, whether they are O/U, SxS, or semi-auto - at both targets and birds

January 25, 2009, 01:31 PM
and I like it just fine, you can call it what you want but it's fun to shoot and its funny going to the range and getting stares. Not to mention for HD the bad guy will **** himself if he sees it, no shots need to be fired lol. This model is a little much though, IMO its a little more ridiculous than the Rolling Thunder model because of that BMG'ish muzzle break, looks kinda cool, impractical, but cool. But hey, to each his own I guess.

I understand the REAL need for the suppressor on the Barret .50 cal but its a little over kill for a shotgun. I will be the first to say I bet it helps recoil.

I have several Mossbergs (Not that one) one from 1950's that weighs twice what the new ones weigh and a new 500 tactical persuader, I use that one all the time. I own an old Browning square back and three other Brownings plus several Remingtons, hell everyone owns a 870. My point is I don't understand one particular comment here "I don't really like Mossbergs anyway" thats lumping ALLOT of guns into one category! Its a sign of a guy that probably only owns one gun.

Saw this thing in a gun mag last month. I just don't get it. Is there a large enough market of people who need to constantly blow hinges off doors? And a muzzle brake to deminish recoil combined with a pistol grip to increase it? I don't get this one.

Sure you can, right here; http://www.royalarms.com/ , but why would you want to chain a race horse to a ox cart?
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right now we seem to see on TV the main use of scatterguns in the military as "breaching". So, everyone see that thingy on the end of the tube, and needs on on theirs! It doesn't diminish the effect of the scattergun, just makes it harder to turn the corner or pass thru the doorway without "flagging".

I never take chances when I'm at home. If I hear a noise, I commence to breaching all the doors in my house. Just in case. So far, it's only been the cat. If you buy your doors in bulk and keep a few spares in the garage, it's no big deal.

Nemoaz, silly answer. Find any real mall ninja and they'll recommend NO DOORS! Yep, no doors at all, just some duct tape to keep those pesky kids and critters taped in their beds and your WHOLE HOUSE is a free fire zone. :)
I had one PGO shotgun that worked like a charm. Ended up giving it to someone who needed it more, but the concept is super.
PG the pump gun, but make it a 20 GA. I picked up a Win 1200 (?) that someone had fitted a PG to and the reduced recoil allowed the PG to work OK.

Those mall ninja operators are a tactical bunch.

I don't see the reason for the "mall ninja" comments. If someone wants to put some "tacticool" stuff on their shotgun that's their business. Not personally my style but....

Firepower, It is not the shotgun that folks question... it is the muzzle brake. That thing is not only excessive weight but dangerous.. the recoil blast is going to reflect tons of concussive waves as well as excessive noise.
