Is it a cantilevered mount or is the mount on the receiver. If it is mounted on the receiver, then the only thing I know to do is start at the 15yd pistol range. Shoot, adjust. Shoot, adjust, move back. etc.
If it is on a cantilevered mount, take the barrel off and put it in holder (gun cradle, cardboard box with V notches, etc). Point the barrel at something a couple of hundred yards off and look down the barrel moving it until the object is centered in the barrel. Now, without moving the barrel, adjust the sights until they are on the object. That should get you onto paper at 25 yds or so - maybe better. With a small caliber rifle (smaller hole to look down so less margin for error) I can use that method to easily get on paper at 100 yds. With a big bore shotgun, your eye isn't going to be able to center the object that precisely.
