I was given an old Damascus barreled 12g. double, bottom lever, breach loader. Going through all the info I can find none of it references the name on the barrel that I have. ' W. & C Scott & son, Dorset Pall Mall place London' From what I can find out this would be vintage, ...1870's or newer?
...any history lessons would be appreciated.

IIRC, W&C Scott morphed into Webley and Scott around 1895.
Bottom Lever ( Possibly a Jones action) indicates one of the earlier designs, perhaps as early as the 1860s.
This is an artifact, not a shooter. Besides the archaic, low pressure action and Damascus barrels, the chambers are almost guaranteed to be 2 1/2" long.
All that aside, Scott made good guns. Hang this over the mantle and admire it.
HTH....
