Colt made some Burgess patent shotguns, including one where the pistol grip actuated the mechanism. Harley Nolden's Forum here may be a better palce to post about this...

Tom Swearengen's book 'The World's Fighting Shotguns' has a section on the Burgess shotgun in the pump/slide action shotguns section/chapter. One tidbit about the inventor: He had an appointment with Theodore Roosevelt when Roosevelt was Chief of Police of New York City, then whipped out his shotgun (since it could be folded in half and brought into action quickly) and fired off 5 blank rounds in quick succession in front of a very surprised Roosevelt. Roosevelt was sold on its capabilities, and had some procured for the police and NY state corrections officers.
