View Full Version : If you can only keep one semi-auto, one revolver...

To continue the last thread, I want to include revolvers in this discussion too.
If you could only own/keep one semi-auto, and one revolver, what would you own and why?
I would keep my Glock 21 (.45 ACP) and my 1997 model Smith & Wesson 686 plus (6" barrell. Reason: the Glock 21 has pinpoint accuracy and a good trigger (for a Glock). The 686 plus has an outstanding trigger in both DA (9.5 lbs) and SA (3.25 lbs). The Smith's trigger is also as smooth as glass. Like the Glock, it is a tackdriver.

Pistol: Glock 23. .40 cal, 13+1 shots, small enough to tote, big enough to shoot in matches, wide load variety available. (Although a good cheat on this would be a G29 compact 10mm with spare barrels in .40 and .357SIG ;) )
Revolver: *&* 686 .357 w/6" barrel to fill in the few handgunning holes the G23 can't cover: handgun hunting, long-range target shooting, el-cheapo plinking with .38 spl wadcutters...

Hey Tamara,
If your going to cheat why not pick a Dan Wesson with interchangable barrel lenghts :)

I would keep my Glock 19, and my Taurus M605. I would keep the G19 as a house gun, and carry the 605 as CCW.
All this could happen, if all those whacked out soccer moms conspire to give us Algore this November.

I already keep this combination as my two carry guns: Kimber Compact stainless & S&W Model 60 (.357).
I never feel under-gunned with either and have two sizes I can switch off on according to temperature and attire.

Wasn't going to get into this thread, but adding the revolver made me think. Thinking is always a good deal (brains need exercise too).
Glock 21 with the frightfully expensive collection of "full capacity" magazines I have, and my old (used) Slick & Worthless Model 625 4". Mostly because the same ammunition works in both. Temptation here is to go for a 357 Mag revolver because of the virsitility, but that doubles the ammo requirement.
My $.02 worth.

Tamara, how are you, it's good to see you back. Gotta agree with you, I would pick my Glock 29 and my 586. Spend all of the other pistol money on ammo and spare goodies.

Sig P220 in .45 ACP - it's because it's what I'm use to carrying and I've got the parts to service it anyway (though the 1911 is much easier to service).
Ruger Redhawk in 44 Mag. .454 wouldn't be bad if I handloaded it down or had it magnaported. It would be a wilderness gun.

If we're talking about being "allowed" to own one of each, then I say to hell with it and start scarfing them up. ;)
Otherwise, if we're talking about guns currently in our possession, mine would be my V10 and Taurus 431.

They work for me.

My 1911A1 Springfield Armory or a Colt Combat Commander I hope to pick up soon (may have found an individual willing to part with his at a reasonable price) for carrying during the cooler months.
My Ruger SP101 in 357 magnum for the dog days of summer. Hidden from you, since you limited us to only one of each, my GP100 also in 357 magnum.
Oh.. If I'm able to get the Combat Comander, the Springfield Armory 1911A1 will be hidden from you too!! :)

It's starting to sound like bandwagon choices, but if I could only keep one of each it'd definitely be the Ruger GP-100, 4"bbl, stainless, fully lugged and the Springfield 1911A1 Parkerized "Loaded" model.
Just don't try and MAKE me only choose one of each, okay? Let's avoid the hard feelings, bad vibes, and the blood shed...

Hi All & I'm Back, Here are my choice's:
In the semi-auto marketplace, I would keep
the Sig-Sauer P228 9m/m. Why? Because 9m/m
ammo is virtually available worldwide.
Moving on to revolver's, my choice would
be my Smith & Wesson Model 28 in .357 Magnum.
Why? To serve as a dual purpose, general service revolver shooting the .38 Special
loads for plinking/target shooting, etc.
and the .357 Magnums for hunting/putting
food on the table.
Best Wishes,
