The .41 Special does seem like a useful cartridge. I'm just wondering whether it would sell enough to interest somebody in bringing it out. After all, the .44 Special is also a useful cartridge, and even reasonably popular, if only for use in .44 Mag revolvers. Yet it's like pulling teeth to get anybody to chamber a small revolver in .44 Special.
I can see Smith putting out one of their "Stocking Dealer Specials" in .41 Special. That's one way S&W has to test the waters for a design that may or may not be popular enough for full production.
