When I go kayaking I usually pack my Walther P1 in a waterproof bag and pocket carry my NAA Mini Mag 1-5/8". The P1 was $269 and if it gets wet it's extremely easy to field strip & clean. The Mini was around $200 and you either love those or don't. I personally love mine and it goes everywhere with me. By the way, the waterproof bag is clipped & strapped to the 'yak in case I capsize.
