Handguns do kill people. So do pointed sticks, car crashes, and stairs. they just don't initiate the act.

That being said, the myth that bothers me most is that guns go off by accident all the time. People like to think that just because the people that shot someone tell the police it was an accident that they didn't in actuality lose their temper and try to kill the person then both lie to the police afterwards.
