Yes, I owned one in the mid-1980's. Mine was stainless, however they might all have been.
I purchased mine from the old Rusk's Gunshop in Middleton, Wisconsin. After experiencing some minor problems, I took it back to their head gunsmith, Bill Schultz. Other than Terry, Bill is one of the finest gunsmiths I have ever met.
My problem was with handloads. No matter what bullet weights or brand of gunpowder, mine appeared to have FTF problems. My guess was that it was primarily the result of some very quick slide timing.
Bill figured about the same, and to prove it, he fired an entire magazine through the pistol--flawlessly--when it was stoked with some firewall 125 grain loads.
I wasn't really pleased with a pistol that would only shoot hot factory loads, so I traded it back into the shop for a box-stock blue Colt 1911.
