What you are accusing GW of is EXACTLY what Reagan did. Throw some crumbs (to the left and the right) and deftly move the political center to the right gradually and incrementally. Does anyone in their right mind think a democratic president could have been found to sign the welfare reform act that Clinton had to sign had RR not been president of this nation. These issues take time to work out --as the grabbers become more vociferous in their demands a wily politico can begin to make them look extremist. Whosoever defines the center in american politics rules this nation, our job is to make the center a comfortable place for gun ownership. These all or nothing (or war) positions make us look like the fringe.
