Lets face it we all are pursuing a dangerous hobby but love it. What happened to you can potentially happen to any one us in some fashion. We are all human and do make mistakes. Unfortunately you did suffer the loss of your 5th digit but fortunately not your life or serious injury to a family member. We must all strive to be careful with our firearms.
