I noticed a white substance exuding around the joint, but it didn't appear to be corrosion. I cleaned it off and there was no pitting or other damage under it or in the joint between the barrel and the sleeve. Applying a good bit of CLP, letting it set and then wiping off the excess seems to have cleared things up--there's been no recurrence.
By the way, the joint between the sleeve and the barrel on my rifle is so well executed that I didn't even realize the sleeve wasn't part of the barrel until the incident with the white exudate.
