Well, the question is, if they ban guns, will they come door-to-door and collect them? If so, one has three choices. Give them up, shoot the people at your door, (who will be armed and ready) or claim you no longer have that gun and make them prove otherwise.
If it is hidden & buried, they will never find it. I think that was his point.
