I keep my 1911 locked in a desk drawer next to my bed, hammer down on an empty chamber, with 4 loaded 7 round mags nearby but not inserted. I talk in my sleep and occasionally sleep-walk, so I leave the keys sitting on the desk rather than in the lock. I figure if I am able to unlock the drawer (key is shaped differently than the rest) and load up, I'm not sleep walking.
