Back in the 1960s, when....
most everything was more fun, Gun World Magazine tried it. The test was conducted by the infamous Jack Lewis and I can't remember who "played" Tonto.
The results? Silver melts at a higher temperature, normal casting furnaces don't do well. As mentioned above, silver doesn't cast well. It doesn't fill out the moulds properly. They ended up finding a teacher from the local community college in the jewelry division to use a centrifuge device in order to fill out the bullets.
As for Tonto casting them over a campfire? Not likely.
Once cast, they shrink undersize no matter what. So they barely touched the rifling. Accuracy was then pretty wretched. They did cast "light". About half as heavy as lead.
On the same subject, they did a simulation on The Shadow. Found out it's really hard to load a Guvmint Model with one in each hand.
