Is a Taurus TCP 738 the same gun as a PT738?

I own a Taurus TCP 738 .380 pocket pistol that's missing its part 24 Disassembly Spring (the takedown pin).

Taurus won't sell me a replacement, they want $100 for me to ship the gun to them so they can look at it and estimate a repair. I just need the pin. The gun has been out of production for some time. I can't find the part on Numrich or other parts vendors.

I can find on Ebay the used part for a Taurus PT738 at a reasonable price. I think PT738 is a different name for the TCP 738. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Is there any reason I shouldn't try a used pin in my gun?

Thanks for your input.

I am 99% sure that you are correct, a PT 738 and TCP .380 are the same thing.

Yes. I owned one.

The only other pocket 380 model from Taurus was the Spectrum and Curve. TCP is 100% the 738.

Same as during that same time of the TP709 Slim 9mm. "Taurus Slim" and the "709"

I can't say if they are the same gun. However, there are 3 distinct variations of magazines throughout the series and the mags are not universally interchangeable. This probably doesn't help with your pin problem. Taurus has a bad habit of naming guns the same name, while changing parts along the way.
