XD Compact vs P99c photo?
Just out of curiosity - with the 1/2" shorter barrel of the XD 9mm compact - Does anyone have both a Walther P99c AND an XD compact 9mm?
Can ya take some photos comparing the size (both guns next to each other and on top of each other to illustrate the size differences) |

ShipWreck, I don't have a Walther P99c, but I do have a S&W SW99c 9mm (I think it is basically the same dimensions as the Walther P99c) and also a SA XD9sc. I took five pics for you to compare size to. Basically, the XD9sc is a little bit shorter length wise, but the SW99c is a little bit shorter height wise. Hope this helps.

Wow, thanks!
Yea, the SW99c and P99c are close enough. Can you take a pic showing the thickness of both guns next to each other? Thanks!!! |

Is the slip-on grip engaging the grip safety? It looks like it is, or it would if it slid up the grip.

Yes, the slip-on grip is fully engaging the grip safety on the XD, but I treat it the same way as when I carry my Glocks, M&P40c and SW99c.
Pay no attention to the girly bedspread in the background, you actually didn't see it, only a manly background is showing (using a Jedi mind trick on you). Here's a few more quick pics (not very good quality, but it should give you some idea on thickness differences). |

Your mind powers will not work on me, boy. -done in my best Jabba Desilijic Tiure impersonation
I recently tried out both guns together. In my hand the size differences were not even noticeable. I wanted so badly to like the P99c better but the XD was just awesome. It was good enough to make a stainless guy like me buy my first ever plastic pistol. |

Well, I like stainless slides too - but my P99c has a hard chromed slide...

ShipWreck, No problem at all.
Playboypenguin, Yep, the XDs are nice pistols. I'm still toying with the idea of eventually (maybe in the Fall) getting a XD45 (45ACP) 4" compact for conceal carry in addition to my XD9sc. |
