"must have" guns?
If you were going to compile a list of lets say, 10, must have guns, what would be on your list. These would be guns that are still obtainable now and wouldnt break your bank to buy it. To be "must have" guns, they need to be either a trend maker or breaker, the epitome of a class, or even a gun thats changed how we make, shoot, or look at guns now. Basically im thinking of this list as a blueprint for a gun collector

As this is in a handgun forum, I assume you mean must have *handguns*. In no particular order:
1911 A1 - straight up military variant Luger Single Action Army Colt or S&W .38 M&P revolver Colt Python S&W Model 29 Glock (probably a 17) Colt or S&W snubby Browning Hi-Power Beretta M92 Walther PPK Last edited by CSG; July 5, 2008 at 01:28 PM. |

1) Mauser C96 (pure nostaglia)
2) M1911 type pistol w/ambidextrious safety 3) Colt Python (smoothest DA revolver around) 4) Colt Diamondback in 22 LR 5) S&W M17 in 22 LR (can you tell I enjoy shoot the 22?) 6) Sig P220 (I've worn that the most of any gun) 7) Ruger DA revolver (either Security Six or GP100) in .38/.357 Magnum - the most reliable DA revolver on the market. 8) CZ-75 in 9mm with Kadet Conversion (best 9mm and 22 LR combo) 9) Ruger Old Army - best blackpowder revolver ever made 10) T/C contender. Barrel swap queen from 22 LR to .223 rifle.

As far as historical significance in a "must have" 10 gun collection, CSG read my mind--
"1911 A1 - straight up military variant Luger Single Action Army Colt or S&W .38 M&P revolver Colt Python S&W Model 29 Glock (probably a 17) Colt or S&W snubby Browning Hi-Power Beretta M92 Walther PPK" |

I am not educated enough to put together a full list of ten, but I would say these deserve to be somewhere on the list:
1. Colt SAA 2. S&W Schofield 3. Colt 1911 4. Browning Hi-Power 5. Glock 17 6. H&K P7 7. S&W Model 27 8. Colt Python I should probably have a Ruger Redhawk or Blackhawk on there somewhere, but I don't know if either of them fits the criteria of "changed how we make, shoot, or look at guns now".

a silenced 22 .. for those stealth shootings
a tupperware 9mm ..everyone has one, so must you.. some magnum revolvers, the ones you fancy, sa,da ruger smith, long barrel shortbarrel.. whatever... too many to name one .357,44,500-- a 45acp 1911... like springfield... if you like cowboy shooting, a .45 ruger lc or similar should be included.. a desert eagle, any cal will do... just to have a one....its big, good to shoot, accurate as hell, yet as useful as an ambolt outside range, but when your out of ammo, you got a great throwing weapon... and if you misplace your hammer, it`s got the one thing the swiss knife is missing.... oh, and its cheaper than getting a porsche . |

a 1911, prefereably Colt but any mil spec will do.
a 357 magnum a S&W500, just to see poeple crane their neck to see what made that noise something plastic, just for reference, it'll make you like your other guns better. and if you have any money left, another 1911. Just kidding about the plastic thing. Definitely not my preference but plastic should be in any "collection". The S&W460 would actually be my preference over the S&W500, but the 500 is more glamerous.
