Larry, I can't tell from the pictures, are the hats embroidered or silk screened?

What color will the text be on the tan hats? I need some TFL gear to identify myself at meets.

Reading the explanation on the web page provided left me curious. The quote on the plaque “Go tell the Spartans, travelers passing by, that here, obedient to their laws we lie.”

Is this quote on the grave of the Persian soldiers? It seems like it should say "Persians" instead of "Spartans" and be on the the grave of Leonidas.

Larry,

Is "MOLON LABE" available as a patch? Embroidered white on black?

(I prefer simple BDU-type caps.)

Sorry for not responding to anybodies questions, but I've been a bit preoccupied over the last 2 days, as I'm sure we all have been. But I guess that normal life must move on. If all anybody thinks about is terrorists then we have let them win. Screw that!

I'll post more confirmations tonight, and systimatically answer all of the posted questions.

Mikul, I've seen the movie "The 300 Spartans" so maybe I can explain the quote on the plaque. Leonidas knew the Persians were coming and that they could be stopped by the Spartan army before they could invade Greece. However, the Spartan leadership did not want to send their troops so far away from Sparta, since they were reluctant to die to save Athens and the other Greek city-states. Likewise, no other Greek city-state wanted to send troops (like the Athens navy) unless the Spartans lead the way. Eventually the Spartans decided to march, but after a several-day religious festival.

Leonidas, knowing time was of the essence, basically went against the wishes of the Spartan politicians and marched immediately with his personal guard of 300. They fought a brilliant holding action and delayed the Persians long enough for the main forces who arrived later to turn them back, but all 300 Spartans died as a result. The message from Leonidas was directed to the main Spartan force, and the people in Sparta who were reluctant to send them immediately. He was letting them know that his brave men upheld their duty as Spartans, and that their sacrifice should be remembered in future conflicts (as it has been).

Since "MOLON LABE" is being used as a rallying cry for gun owners, we should remember that it not only means that we will never give up our guns, but that we should not wait too long to act if we believe the line in the sand is crossed.

Now that I've got myself fired up with all that writing, I'll go ahead and order a hat in each color.

Larry - I'll be ordering 2 black hats by Saturday. Check will be sent via snail mail.

Let's see, with all the hats I bought for gifts and a few for myself, this makes a total of 7 hats.

I'd like one of each, but it looks like the math on the shipping charges doesn't jive. Is it $3.50 for one hat plus $1 for each additional? For two, that should be:

(2 x $12) + ($3.50 + $1) = $24 + $4.50 = $28.50

Or is it $1 total for more than one hat? That's what it looks like:

(2 x $12) + $1 = $25

(3 x $12) + $1 = $37 etc.

Or should I have just kept my mouth shut and paid $25? (no - I was never the kid who reminded the teacher to collect the homework )
