Political Affiliation Test

Check it out:

I was tested to be a "right-wing libertarian."

I've taken that one a few times. Always come out as a paleolibertarian. It fits.

Slightly left leaning and quite libertarian.

I noticed there weren't any questions regarding RKBA.

It's a UK-based test; they're unaware that they have the R to KBA.

The questions were a little odd. Take these examples...

"Jews surely have to take some of the responsibility for their persecution over the past 2000 years."

I don't believe in blaming the Jews for their troubles, but surely they are experiencing God's judgement for their rejection of the Messiah. This question might be used to determine one's level of support for Israel and the Jews. If so, I would probably be judged an anti-Semite and anti-Israel when nothing could possibly be further from the truth.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need is a fundamentally good idea."

Well, it is a fundamentally good idea. It just doesn't work when it is mandated by the government. It works pretty well in my Church though. Just because someone believes that this is a fundamentally good idea does not make them a socialist/communist.

"In a civilised society, one must always have people above to obey and people below to command."

What kind of question is that?

Well, it is a fundamentally good idea.
Believe it or not, some of us feel it's a fundamentally bad idea because it discourages abilities and glorifies needs.

I found quite a few of the questions difficult to answer, simply because of the way they were worded and the implications of the answer.

For example, as a conservative Catholic, I do believe that sex outside marriage is a sin, but I would never condone the use of force or other governemnt coersion to prevent people from doing it. On the other hand, if I were a landlord I should be allowed to not rent to unmarried couples if I choose.

Or the question about gay adoption. I don't think there should be laws against it, but I also don't believe that the govt should be involved in adoption. A Catholic orphanage then should be able to refuse to allow gay couples to adopt.

Two and a half by minus five. Pretty centreline politics according to that test, but if there were more spaces for "Simply don't give a stuff" then I'd have probably scored zilch by minus five. Or for "Insufficient data" or "Well that's on individual cases, isn't it?"

Suffice to say, it's hardly surprising I find it hard to find a decent conversation in this country.... (UK (Blaireditz))....

Along similar lines is the Libertarian Party's "World's Smallest Political Quiz" (only 10 questions) at: http://www.lp.org/quiz/

Well I suppose you could view it that way now that I think about it. I guess that's a phrase open to interpretation. I guess a better way to say it, at least in my local dialect would be...

"If you have been blessed, it shore is nice if you use it to help us all out. In return, we'll be purfectly happy to return the favor and work with y'all to make shore that them what's goin' thru hard times git what they need to make it."

I don't believe for one minute that the person who originally penned that phrase really meant it that way, but if I said it...that's how I would want it to be interpreted.

Econ L/R = -4.88
Auth/Lib = -5.69

Not exactly busting the curve, but it looks like the left-lib continent is the minority in TFL. Still, it's nice that there's room here for so much variation.

I don't get what the numbers mean, but the dot put me in the Left/Libertarian area.

I didn't like the questions though; way too simplistic (as with all of these "instant political quizzes", and there wasn't even a no answer/no opinion option. Which was a huge downfall.

Yeah, and there are too many leading questions on this one. I don't like the first one where it asks if globalization is inevitable, should it benefit humanity or corporations. There are other options, and it all depends on your view of what benefiting humanity is. My definition of benefiting humanity is far different than a socialist's, and not mutually exclusive to benefiting corporations as well.

First try: -1.75/-4.10 What? Me a socialist? Can't be!
Second try: -2.38/-3.95 Nooo! Now it's even worse!
Third and last: +1.38/-4.15 Pooh! What a relief!
