When all new or used vehicles are sold, a print should be made of each tire track, this would allow authorities to match tire tracks left at the scene of a crime to a particular vehicle.

Wait, this sounds about as dumb as "ballistic fingerprinting". Yet we hear airheaded newsreporters and lawmakers talk about ballistic fingerprinting with a straight face.
