Finally, a day with no rain! I got out to the range and shot the Longshot loads that have been waiting on the shelf for over a month now. I know there are a few people here that were interested in Longshot for the 40 s&w, so here's my results.
They were shot in my Beretta 96G Elite (4.7"bbl). Having been away from the range for a while, I wasn't as steady as I could be, so my groups suffered some. Temp was about 55 degrees with no wind, and it was overcast. All cases were Winchester, with Winchester SP primers, Nosler JHP bullets, and were loaded to 1.145" ( 0.010" over SAAMI max OAL ) Longshot metered OK, but not great, charges were all within .1gr. Muzzle flash was not visible, and recoil was not as hard as I expected. I shot 15 rounds of each. Bullet weight, charge weight, average velocity, standard deviation, average size of 5 shot group. 150gr, 8.9gr, 1270fps, 26.3, 3.5" 150gr, 9.4gr, 1309fps, 31.2, 3.5" 150gr, 10.0gr, 1349fps, 27.0, 4.5" 135gr, 10.8gr, 1437fps, 38.1, 3.5" 135gr, 11.3gr, 1465fps, 25.2, 3.5" 135gr, 11.8gr, 1504fps, 15.3, 5" The last load, 135gr Nosler on 11.8gr of Longshot was at the point of starting to flatten primers, so I plan on staying away from this one in the future, all other loads showed no pressure signs, and the 150gr/8.9gr loads even had soot on the outside of the case. The full power loads were very clean. Load data is available at http://www.hodgdon.com In all honesty, these look more like 10 mm numbers than 40 s&w numbers. However, I like what I've seen so far.

150gr, 9.4gr, 1309fps, 31.2, 3.5 [quote]
If it was my gun, that's the load that I would settle on. I'll be trying to work up a load that will slightly exceed 1300 FPS SAFELY in my Barsto barrelled Glock 22. Thanks for the post.
