Polishing up a nickel plated Smith 29
I have a Smith and Wesson Model 29 circa 1975 that has a lot of fine scraches on the finish. These are very shallow. The finish overall is bright with no chips or dull places. What would be the best method to polish out the finish without taking off to much nickel? I would be thankful for any help.

Or Flitz. Use a soft, clean cloth and gentle rubbing. After polishing, use a good NON ABRASIVE wax (not car wax) to protect the finish and fill in the scratches.

I've used Mothers Mag polish with great results on a couple of my old Colt revolvers. Mothers Billet polish also does a good job and is slightly less aggressive than Flitz or Mother regular Mag polish. If you don't go too overboard and are carelfull you shouldn't have any problems with any of the mentioned polishes.
