Who Makes The Best Mag. For A 9MM High Power

I need some reliable magazines that will drop free empty.

I have seen some 40cal BHP mags with a spring on the bottom that helps it eject out of the mag well. I presume the mag disconnect is what makes them hang up.

Thanks....John

If you want them to drop free with mag safety in your pretty much stuck with the mousetrap mags or ditch the safety.I have factory and Mec-Gar's,they all drop free without the mag safety.

+1 on Mecgars. I believe they are the OEM for the BHP. I"ve never seen the mousetrap mags except for the factory provided mags. I don't know if Mecgar will retail them or not. I hate mag disconnects so I removed mine. Mags drop free, trigger pull improved, and I can drop the hammer w/o a mag. All plusses in my book.

How do you remove the mag safety?

I use the 15rd Mec-Gars in my 9mm BHP; they work perfectly, so far.

As I understand it, MecGar is the OEM supplier of magazines for Browning, so when you buy a Browning magazine, you're actually buying a Mec Gar, but at a pretty good price mark up because it's a "Browning" piece of kit.

I used to be a fan of the "KRD"-marked South African/South American mags sold by CDNN. I'd never really had any trouble with them, but I put more rounds through my HP over the Summer than I had the previous ten years, and the KRDs were spotty, at best. I'm looking at Wolff trim-to-fit mag spring as a possible fix, but will stick with the "factory" Mec-Gar for now.

As other have said. Mecgar is the way to go. You can find them all the time in 9mm or 40 S&W for right around $20.

I have 3 stainless mags I bought from Novak's years ago that work just as well as the usual Mec-Gars. I have no idea who made them.

Thanks for all the replies.

It looks like Mec-gar is the way to go. I will need to buy 5 or 6 of them for the matches I shoot.

I removed the mag safety yesterday and I'm very pleased with the results, now I just need to testfire, thanks!.....john

As noted, Mec-Gar.

I had a bunch of the KRD, and their springs gave up the ghost pretty quickly.

Until this message chain, I was the only person who ever complained about those mags.

Never had problems with Mec-Gar mags. Have had a few problems with some 10-rouind Browning mags (with the little springs on the bottom that help ejection.)
