S&w 15-3

I just bought one. Will be able to pick it up in 10 days. It's a beauty. As far as ammo goes: will it take +P?

Yes. Your model 15 should be able to handle modern +P ammo. The general recommendation is to practice with standard velocity ammo (e.g 130gr FMJ) and shoot a little of the +P for point of aim familiarization. Not only is this less expensive, but it saves wear and tear on the gun.

Try using...

Hornday's 140gr XTPs thru your 15.
Nice recoil, good velocity, very goos groups.
Give yourself a POA/POI @50 yds, everything under will be above the POA.
Nice for CPL

I researched this when we bought SWMBO's 15-2 (which, being a -2, predates yours). Yes, hers will take +Ps, therefore yours should as well. BillCA's advice is sound -- practice with standard pressure stuff, and just shoot enough +P stuff so that you know how it shoots, and keep +Ps in it for SD/HD. That's what we do with SWMBO's.
