trick to getting off hogue bantams?

My chiefs special wears hogue bantams and they just aren't for me. I can't get them off, though, even using the little tool they came with. Nothing seems to be able to spread them wide enough to get them off the pin at the bottom of the grip. I don't want to ruin them because I am fickle and will probably decide I prefer them after I spend about $100 trying others

The tool works, just be patient. I put it in on the back strap and slide it down to the pin, as long as you push it in all the way this should do it.

Can't get Hogue grips off!

Try spraying the area with WD40.
I had an impossible time trying to get a set of Hogue grips on and later off my Redhawk. I sprayed the cavity with WD-40 and the finally went on/off.

Hogues can be tricky indeed. I never had much trouble with the rubber monogrips on my k-frame, but the rosewood ones I got were SO HARD to get on that I switched to the traditional two-piece S&W target grips and never looked back. I like wood.

Slide a credit card down between the frame and grip and try to get close to the pin (a card on each side of the frame will help). Start lifting the bantam grips from the from by grabbing the card as close to the frame as possible and torqueing/twisting the grips loose.
