9mm spinning/reactive targets ? steel or polymer ?
i recently pickep up an auto reset plinking target for my .22, and im having a blast with it. this made me want something for my 9mm. i am not sure of the durability or saftey though, since i mostly use WWB 115g FMJ. are there any metal targets than can be used with fmj ? also been looking at ballistic polymer targets. these seem like a better option, but i dont know how long they would last.
any info, input, reviews would be appreciated. |

Steel targets will work fine for centerfire pistol calibers, but you need to be shooting from a safe distance and the steel has to be heavy enough to withstand numerous hits. I used to compete in monthly subgun matches and many of the targets were steel plate. Even under the constant beating of full auto fire, they held up very well, with little more than a shot of spray paint once in a while. Check out www.gttargets.com We didn't use their equipment, but it was very similar in style and construction. If you are considering making your own the GT website should give you some good ideas, but if you just want to buy something already made I'd recommend GT. I've seen GT's stuff at gunshows and it sems to be good quality.

Yeah, I guess the ballistic polymer ones wouldn't shoot back like the steel ones, so you could put them up close at 10-15 yards. I don't like putting steel targets of any kind closer than 25 yards.

I'd like to know what you picked up for your 22. My brother just bought his first 22 and I thought a reactive target for practices would make a great gift.

The gun show this weekend was selling some sort of orage polymer spinner targets, advertising one used with hits from a .223rem & .375H&H. Do these things really hold up? Seems like if the spinner attachment got even a little rough a .22 short might punch through that stuff - but that's just a guess..
This stuff really holds up? |

these are the ones i havebeen looking at http://www.ballistictec.com/
if they could hold up for a few 1000 rounds i figure i could replace them every year. someone out there has to have tried them. |
