Just heard from wife who works near Dulles Airport. They've closed her building as reports of hijacked plane flying around Dulles?? Other friends in the Reston/Herndon area also being sent home.

More than 50,000 people worked in the World Trade Center.
This is horrible. The only silver lining I can find is that it didn't happen two hours later when more people were at work. Still ... it happened around 9 am.

If we find out this is coming from the Middle East we should use our nuclear submarines to retaliate. F*ck the collateral damage. Make the Middle east one big parking lot.

Ok, here's a serious gut check. I'm active duty Air Force, as most know here at TFL. I've been burning use-or-lose leave this week, when I wake up to this devastation on the news. I haven't been called in to fly, no need for the WC-135W to scramble yet, although Threatcon has ramped up to at least Bravo by now. But I'm thinking about that F-16 pilot who may be given the order to shoot down a hijacked 7X7/DC-X to prevent it taking out the White House.

AA flt 11 f/Boston to LA (second plane to hit towers) 757 acft 81 souls onboard

United 175 f/Dulles

AA flt 77 f/Dulles to LA, 54 souls on board; possible 767

United flt 93 f/Newark to San Francisco (crashed at Camp David - no real damage)

FAA reports some messages from acft before they crashed.

(( We will know who did this..... ))

Air Force 1 in the air, destination of Washington area, exact destination unknown.

Friend that works at Ohare said two United planes are missing. American Airlines was the carrier that hit the world trade center.

The planes hit around 9pm, when everybody would be at work.

Been watching CNN. Saw the second plane fly into the Trade Center Tower "LIVE". Man oh man. I have been watching CNN and listening to Aaron Brown. He was a local reporter in Seattle years back. Good reporter. Won't take up any more band width.
