Posting QuickLOAD and GRT data
Yesterday, May 31, 2016, I had a talk with NECO to get updated information about his policy on information from QuickLOAD being included in forum posts. The QuickLOAD EULA gives control of the copyright to QuickLOAD's distributors in their various areas, and NECO is QuickLOAD's distributor in the U.S. Otherwise since QuickLOAD is copyrighted material, including the graphics, it would just fall under the board's general policy on posting copyrighted material, which is not to do so without express permission from the copyright holder.
NECO said they do not mind the odd screenshot or an occasional load calculation from the software being included in a post. HOWEVER, if load information is included in a post, it must include a disclaimer. So, if you do include such information in a post, the disclaimer below must be copied and pasted at the top of your post. June 28th, 2020: I have also had a communication from Gordon's Reloading Tool. They say their EULA has no limitation on posting screenshots, but they join NECO in the need for a warning as to who assumes the risk in using the information. Copy and past the following warning at the top of any screenshot or data coming from QuickLOAD or Gordon's Reloading Tool: CAUTION: The following post includes load data generated by calculation in QuickLOAD (QL) or Gordon Reloading Tool (GRT) software is based on particular powder lots, the assumption the primer is as mild as possible, and assumptions about component, chamber and gun geometry that may not correspond well to what you have. Such data should be approached by working up from published starting loads. USE THIS DATA AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The Firing Line, nor the staff of TFL, nor QL's author or distributor nor GRT's author assumes any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information or information derived from it. The board's general policy on posting copyrighted materials otherwise applies. Posting volumes of QuickLOAD data so other folks can get around buying the program for themselves is not allowed under this policy. "Occasional" means just that.
