Actions speak louder than words. I judge Bush by his *actions*, which are far more pro-freedom than any "real contender" presidential candidate in decades, maybe even generations. Can anyone tell me the last "contender" candidate who ever took a *leadership* roll in rolling back gun control the way Bush did with shall-issue? You might have to go back to Teddy to find anybody even comparable!

If Harry Brown could take his blinders off, he'd toss it this year and back Bush.

On a side-note: there's talk going around that the unions are REAL pissed at Gore's backing of trade with China (especially), and to a lesser extent Mexico. And they have a point: it ain't gonna be easy for US workers to compete against Chinese political prisoners.

They're actually muttering about throwing in with Buchannon of all people, due to his rabid protectionist stance.

Yes, that's some really freaky stuff but it's certainly pleasant to think about...and we may be able to stir up that pot a bit more.

Who's yacking about "smearing" Bush?

The Guy's a loser and I'm about as Libertarian as they come.

But who's has a chance of winning?

Also, if the time comes then fight. The time ain't here yet and talking about it just puts you higher on the list.

If it gets to that point then It'll be because we lost due to our own stupidity. And I really, really think some people are Pro-Revolution and will due anything to make it happen, Even work for the Enemy. There's a psychotic disorder, I can't remember what it's called, but it's basicly people who start a problem so they can be seen as heros when they "solve" it. Arsonists/Firefighters comes to mind. And there seems to be a lot of people with cans of gasoline wandering around here.
Not that we didn't have that back in 1776. The "Sons of Liberty" spring to mind. And I'm not saying it's necessarily wrong IF YOU THINK THAT"S THE ONLY WAY TO CHANGE THE SYSTEM. But I don't.

Even if the Republicans do everything right and win the election they are bound to fail. Bush WILL NOT confront and polarize the left.
He'll give them bits and pieces to include them in the party. We do not want such people in the party. We want to exclude them from the policy making process.

Can anyone imagine Goldwater or Reagan doing any of this?

Watch for a liberal/socialist landslide in '04 or '08, followed by armed resistance to registration and confiscation.

Bush won't resist the left? Seems like he sure did in Texas. I'm sorry, but I give Bush more credit for his actions than for his website. What concealed carry law has Browne, Buchanan, or any other third party candidate passed? Why isn't the NRA spending money on those candidates, if Bush is such a wimp on the 2nd Amendment? The NRA obviously doesn't think Bush will sell us out like Clinton/Gore. Neither do I.

So now we must vote for gun control to save our Right to Keep and Bear
Arms. It’s hilarious how we profess to be pro-RKBA while we grease the skids
on the slippery slope into tyranny.

Bravo, Dennis!!!

Well done.

Dennis,

If Randy Davis thinks you are right, I would start getting worried BIG time if I were you! LOL

Yes, vote for Browne, he has no chance of winning. Al Gore needs all the help he can get! LOL

Mr. Williams.
What you are accusing GW of is EXACTLY what Reagan did. Throw some crumbs (to the left and the right) and deftly move the political center to the right gradually and incrementally. Does anyone in their right mind think a democratic president could have been found to sign the welfare reform act that Clinton had to sign had RR not been president of this nation. These issues take time to work out --as the grabbers become more vociferous in their demands a wily politico can begin to make them look extremist. Whosoever defines the center in american politics rules this nation, our job is to make the center a comfortable place for gun ownership. These all or nothing (or war) positions make us look like the fringe.

Mr. Jaycox,
The cultural and ideological center of the country is now far to the left of what it was when Reagan was president. There is no sense of outrage, just a lot of s██████ing at Presidential hi-jinx. It's like playing football when the umpires keep moving the goal-posts and every down we play is fourth and ninety-nine.

Try this: articulate the philosophy behind the Declaration, describe its relation to the Constitution, and then criticize Clinton for his rule by decree through executive orders. Talk about the necessity of personal responsibility. Suggest that irresponsible sex has more to due with AIDS and the surge of abortions and out-of-wedlock births than price-gouging pharmaceutical companies and traditional family values. Suggest that values free education produces kids who do not value life and are walking time bombs who spend their time thinking up ways to kill everyone they know.

One third of the people you talk to will splutter with rage and call you a bigot, one third will burst into tears and have a temper tantrum, about one sixth will stare at you vacantly, and maybe the remaining sixth will respond that they've never considered things in that light before.

There is no center anymore, or perhaps a better understanding of the "center" is "No friends to the right, no enemies to the left."

Dennis,
Once again you post eloquently. Keep the faith, vote Browne. At least I can show my son an example of an older gentleman who didn't screw him before birth.

KJM,
Thank you, sir.
-----

nralife,
Well, Joe, you're getting closer. When you get to the point you admit a vote for (any third party) is a vote lost for Bush, rather than some percentage for Gore, we'll agree!
-----

Eric,
If only 0.2% of the votes cast are not for Bush, there is no need for the Republicans to be so upset! Just ignore us. But we won't go away. You see, we are against gun control.
-----

All,

Well, folks, I've done it again. Chatted the thread over 100K.

See y'all on the next go 'round (Good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise).
