Concealed Carry

First and Foremost the intent of this post/poll is just to fulfill my own curiosity In no way does it infer any ideological underpinnings. I was asked about this by my Son in Law who's not big on visiting the places defined in the survey. Please understand that I'm not buying or selling a position one way or the other. Just be honest. Again, this is not a "probe" into your personal spiritual lives.

I feel like an Attorney now....the small print

Every Sunday, and there are at least 3 others in my church who do likewise.

Why not? God's everywhere. He knows I carry everywhere else. If he was going to protect me in church, why would he protect me less anywhere else?

Crime doesn't stop at the door just because it's the house of God, it's still located in man's world.

One day we had a visiting pastor in my church. One of the stories he told us was about a guy who walked in with a 12ga and proceeded to shoot his wife (or ex, I can't remember) as well as a couple guys who got in his way.

I don't go to church but if I did I'd carry just the same as everywhere else I go.

A pastor of a church here in Louisville held an 'open carry' event last year where over 200 people showed up. The media was there, I gave a taped interview that was shown on the 10 o'clock news.

Honestly I feel church is no more sacred than anywhere else. Why someone would choose to disarm themselves for that purpose is beyond me. Also make note of the attempted shootings in Colorado Springs.

I'm not saying open carry necessarily, but at least have some sort of protection system. The world is changing, we must change accordingly.

You sure about that?

It's perfectly legal to carry in a church here in Texas.

You are only surprised because you think there is such a federal law. No such law actually exists.

The folks in this video experienced a gunman in the church.

Knoxville is 40 miles from me. I carry in church as do others.

I answered no simply because on Sunday mornings I choose to give it a rest. I'm not in any way opposed to carrying in church. In fact, our pastor and about half the guys and even some of the ladies in my church have CC permits. A couple of years ago the church got together and gave Pastor D. a Glock for his birthday! Just for the record, if I'm at church for any evening activity during the week I'm always carrying.

If you'd read that you'd see the * next to the church which means "Do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06" I've never seen a church 30.06 posted around here.

As far as I know it's OK here in Oregon. Obviously, no one waves his or her gun around in church. That's not exactly what we're there for.

I always do. While I wish I could worship safely without having to carry in church, I view it as necessary.

As someone eloquently stated, it is God's House, but in man's world. There have been lots of times that churches have been targeted. We must remain vigilant.

I do

I always carry, and going to a synagogue is no different.
As a matter of fact a synagogue is a target and many have been attacked in many countries over the years.
BTW, in the 90's there was also a bunch of "freedom fighters" who chose to burst into a church (in Cape Town) with guns blazing, a single person who was armed confronted them successfully and minimized the damage that they could have done if they had been un-opposed,

Brgds,

Danny

Look, guys, the question is, "Do you carry concealed or otherwise into a Church, Mosque, Synagogue,Temple, etc.?"

It is not, "If not, why not?

I am not a regular church-goer either, but I refrain on TFL from publiciziing my opinions of organized religion and the dogma resulting therefrom.

You will do the same.

That is two deleted posts in this discussion, so far. Let's be adult about this and excercise some self control. We may not be interested in your religious beliefs.

One more thing ... discussions of the separation of church and state are appropriate for the Legal & Civil Rights forum, not General Discussion forum.

There is no place on TFL for free-ranging, all inclusive discussions. That is why we have subforums with topic descriptions.
